Why the bulb may stay on, stay off or cycle
If the bulb behaves unexpectedly, switch it off and review the product instructions before troubleshooting.
- It stays on during the day: The sensor may be shaded, covered or facing an unusually dark area.
- It stays off at night: Nearby lighting may be shining onto the sensor, or the fixture may not be supplying power.
- It turns on and off repeatedly: The bulb may be seeing its own reflected light or another light source that changes when it switches.
- It flickers: The bulb may be incompatible with the fixture, dimmer or control, or there may be an electrical issue.
Cleaning dirty fixture glass and confirming that the sensor is unobstructed may help, but never alter a fixture or defeat a safety feature to expose the sensor.

Turn power off as appropriate and allow the old bulb to cool before changing it. Follow the manufacturer instructions for the bulb and fixture. If the socket, fixture, switch or wiring is damaged—or the work extends beyond a straightforward compatible bulb replacement—use a qualified electrician.
Automatic lighting is most useful when it quietly removes a repeated task. Check the specifications first, place the sensor where it can do its job and confirm the result over a full day-night cycle.
